Welcome to music at Bogan. I am Melodie Weaver, your student's music teacher at school and would like to tell you a few things about myself both personally and professionally. I have taught music for 33 years and most of my years have been here in the Talawanda School District. Prior to that I graduated from Miami University with a B. Mus. Ed. and M. Ed. I have a married son who has started his teaching career and a daughter who has a degree from the Scripps School of Journalism and Communication and is currently in job placement. My hobbies are traveling, gardening, cooking, playing cards and board games (especially Backgammon) and spending time with my family.
This year in music your child will be learning about a variety of musical styles through song, playing instruments, movement, and active listening. I also have what is called a SmartBoard in my classroom which allows for all students at Bogan to interact with music education websites. It's very engaging for students. Grades given in music will be O - Outstanding, S - Satisfactory, N - Needs Improvement or U - Unsatisfactory, and will be based heavily on classroom participation and cooperation.
